The Gift of Brillance and VisionryThis season, help the California Riverside Ballet revive The Nutcracker by supporting the Wardrobe Fund. Through your generosity, this timeless fairy tale of the Nutcracker and the King of Mice will continue to delight audiences of all ages. In 1979 the California Riverside Ballet acquired from the Houston Ballet the Peter Farmer sets and costumes which were originally designed in the 1960’s for the Royal Ballet of London. The California Riverside Ballet premier was presented to Riverside audiences at Landis Auditorium in 1979 with the Riverside County Philharmonic. Over the course of The Nutcracker’s 26 year legacy with CRB, the elegant sets and wardrobe designed by world famous set and costume designer, Peter Farmer, have been used in hundreds of performances. Over time, the inevitable toll of stress on gentle fabrics and material has been meticulously and lovingly repaired by volunteers. The time is now upon us to replace the costumes, once as resilient as the Nutcracker Prince and musical score by Peter Illych Tchaikovsky. A much needed restoration is scheduled to begin in the 2006/07 season, but our dancers need your support to bring new costumes to our stage.
